Your Focus Matters

I’m not a morning person! I often hit the snooze button on my alarm app multiple times.

Sleep is a gift from God, and in my opinion, one can never have enough of it. Some mornings I wake up and begin my morning routine focused on wanting more sleep. I admit it. I keep my eyes closed for as long as possible. But without open eyes and a thankful mindset, I can't enjoy or participate fully in the gift of the day God has given me. Colossians 3:2 says, "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." This verse proves that what we focus on matters and can positively or negatively affect our lives. Instead of being a walking zombie with my eyes closed in the morning, I can be thankful to God for a new day with new opportunities. What we focus on can influence how we view life. This verse is not telling us to never worry about what is happening in the world or our lives, but it helps us to ask, what has your attention today? What is grasping your heart and mind at this moment? It is important to name whatever has your focus because it impacts your life!
